4The Athletic Superman

2023.01.10 SEASON 1

[Roki Soya’s Perspective]

Sami had apparently found a USB drive. Rulon was holding onto it now, but they told Roki to bring it to Hako himself. Since then, he hadn’t been able to get in touch with either of them. Telepathic distance limitations were really annoying.

That’s why Roki was running. Faster than using a train or a car. So fast that ordinary humans couldn’t see him. This was Roki’s special ability: simply put, “incredible athleticism.”

The park where they had been searching for the USB drive would be an hour away by train, but Roki arrived in just a few minutes. Without breaking a sweat, he spotted Rulon applying makeup in the plaza.

“Wow, that’s a cool costume. Suits you well.”

“I like how you’re never fazed, Roki. Here’s the USB drive. The sale event starts at 11, so please hurry and take it to Hako.”

“Thanks! You guys have fun!”

When Roki entered the venue, it was already so crowded that he couldn’t use his special ability. He had to push through the crowd, getting increasingly anxious since he couldn’t just run without being scolded by the staff.

Somehow, he managed to reach Hako’s location without getting lost, and it was 10:40. Hako was sitting behind a long table lined with manga.

“Oh, you’re a manga artist! Your drawings are amazing!”
As he said this, Roki held out the heart-shaped USB drive. Hako looked shocked and fell off their chair.
“Are you okay?”
“Wha-what? You really found it? And you brought it all the way here?”
“It wasn’t me, it was my colleague who found it. Here you go!”
He held it out once more. Hako took it, but didn’t seem particularly happy.
“Was I too late bringing it?”
“It’s not your fault.”
“Sorry I couldn’t make it in time.”
Hako explained that the data on the USB drive was a manga intended for free distribution today. Apparently, not only manga for sale but also bonus manga given away for free were very much appreciated by fans. Well, of course. It was a special item only available to those who came to the venue.

Hako probably wanted to give back to her supportive fans.
“I announced on social media that there’d be a free giveaway… If I can’t provide it, some people might wonder why they even came. But I guess I just have to apologize sincerely.”
“Why don’t you print it out? We still have time, right?”
“What?”
“Will 100 copies be enough?”
“100 copies would be more than enough… but how? We don’t have enough time.”
“Alright then, I’ll be right back.”
Roki took the USB drive and ran. Once he left the venue, his special ability allowed him to practically teleport to a convenience store about 3 kilometers away.

There were no other customers using the copy machine at the store. The sale event would start in just 15 minutes.
